WWF calls on governments to crack the climate nut
As UN climate talks enter their next round in Poznan, WWF calls on governments to ensure that the conference shifts the climate negotiations into a much faster gear by producing first real negotiation texts. A final version of the treaty is due end of 2009.

ECONNECT- restoring the web of life
In early November a kick-off meeting in Vienna launched the ambitious international project “ECONNECT restoring the web of life”, financed by the EU (as part of the Alpine Space Programme) and with the close collaboration of WWF’s European Alpine programme. The new frontier of nature conservation is the establishment of ecological networks between habitats and protected areas across the Alps and the newly launched project is a powerful first step in this direction. » Read more

Amazon deforestation trend on the increase
Deforestation in Brazil's Amazon forests has flipped from a decreasing to an increasing trend, according to new annual figures released yesterday by the country's space agency INPE.
