FUDENA is an NGO established in Venezuela in 1975 whose main goal is to contribute to the conservation of natural resources and the environment by preserving biodiversity and promoting sustainable development.

Its mission is achieved through the implementation of 5 major areas: applied research, planning and management of protected areas, information and education, communications, and promotion of sustainable development.

Initially, FUDENA concentrated its attention on investigation and projects to recover endangered species. FUDENA's constant work in urban as well as rural areas has helped to gradually incorporate civil society into the search of solutions for environmental problems. Thus, FUDENA has defined the implementation of its programs into six institutional areas:
  • Investigation, management, and observation
  • Protected areas
  • Environmental education and community participation
  • Environmental policies and legislation
  • Information
  • Institutional Strengthening

At the same time, our projects are centered mainly on 3 geographical areas that have been identified as priorities for conservation.
